California Voices
More than just the "Sunshine State"
California has led the nation in healthcare advocacy. From HMO reform to the "patient's bill of rights", and certainly, with important medical research that may one day provide a cure for cancer, Parkinson's and other diseases of the brain. We continue to break through challenging barriers, thanks in part, to dedicated patient advocates.
But the nation's healthcare delivery system as a whole continues to errode, placing access to quality care out of reach for more of California's working families and individuals than ever before in our history, while seniors and the disabled choose between needed medications and food.
California voices have never been more important. I hope you'll share them with us by emailing your comments and topic suggestions to me here at The Patient's Voice. I look forward to hearing from you!
Best,
Rosmary Roberts

Automobile Rollovers & Roof Crush
What Many in the Automobile Industry Don't Want You to Know About Preventable Deaths, Brain Trauma, Paralysis, and Other Catastrophic Injuries Due to Rollover Roof Crush Accidents
The Patient's Voice is pleased to bring our listeners a special series dedicated to those who have suffered the senseless deaths and sever injuries resulting from roof crush during a rollover accident.
In a nation of failed healthcare policy, the victims of such preventable, catastrophic injures are limited (at best) to proper access for necessary care, and taxpayers are picking up the bill for millions in healthcare costs associated with the negligence of the auto manufacturers.
Each year, 10,000 deaths occur and an estimated 16,000 people suffer critical injuries, including brain trauma and spinal cord injuries resulting in paralysis in rollover accidents. .
In recent years, documentation has surfaced that proves what automobile manufactures have known for decades; that roof crush injuries are PREVENTABLE at a cost estimated to be equal or less to that of a movie with popcorn and a soda.
Perhaps more stunning is the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration's own failure to provide adequate oversight and policy, including standardized testing that would protect consumers -- testing that simulates the true nature of roof strength during a rollover accident. The influence of the auto manufacturing industry over such testing is undeniable, and the actions (or lack of them) by NHTSA is contemptible. Today, engineers with up to 30 years in the auto manufacturing industry are speaking out about what they knew, when they knew it, and why nothing was ever done.
NO IMMUNITY FOR AUTO MANUFACTURES: In what can only be described as a compounding travesty, a current bill proposes immunity for the auto makers against lawsuits; a virtual free pass for their decades of knowing disregard of the preventable deaths and injuries each year, and their proven attempts to hide industry secrets while pressing for reduced standards of roof crush testing. YOUR SENATORS MUST HEAR FROM YOU!
